Recreational Respite for people with ABI

Wesley Mission Victoria runs a respite program in the North West metropolitan region for people with an ABI who live with older carers. The program provides recreational activities and holidays for small groups of people who are carefully matched for compatibility, shared interests and similar abilities. The activities are developed in consultation with the participants, and are supported by a combination of paid staff and volunteers. We aim to deliver activities that are fun, safe and that will increase each person's opportunities to experience their community while doing things that they will enjoy. Although we can only offer the program to a limited number of eligible people, we aim to make sure that for those on the program, the carers have a real break from their caring role, while knowing their family member is experiencing activities with people they know and get on well with. We currently have a small number of places available on this program and invite your inquiries and referrals if you are a persn who could be eligible for the program, or if you are working with someone who could be eligible. Please note, as the numbers are small, we will take all calls initially and may need to prioritise your applications.
