The Parent and Carer Manifesto launched

Australia's newest political party, the Parents Families and Carers Party, has launched its Parent and Carer Manifesto for the coming federal election. The Manifesto calls for a Parent Living Allowance of $544 per week (the minimum wage) payable from the birth of a child until the age of six years. It also calls for a Carer Living Allowance at the same rate for carers of family members with disabilities, mental or chronic illness, and aged frailty. Every parent and carer would also receive an annual Family Advocacy Payment of $2000 to engage the services of an Advocate to represent the interests of families in dealing with health, education and welfare services and government departments. The full text of the six-point Manifesto appears below. Please give us your comments and feedback. We plan to field a team of Senate candidates in every state and territory in the coming federal election. Expressions of interest will be invited soon for people wishing to stand for the Senate (we will have a team of two in each state and territory).
