Disability Connections Code of Conduct
The following rules and guidelines exist to ensure the success of the Disability Connections Discussion Forum & Web Chat.
• The goal of the forum is to allow as many people as possible the opportunity to participate in discussion of disability and related issues by providing a fair and neutral space that most members will find of value in the information exchange.
• While contributors to the Forum implicitly agree to share their intellectual property through the Forum and its archive, the writers retain all the copyright privileges of their messages. This is to ensure appropriate credits and promote full public access and awareness of the Forum. It is the responsibility of the author of the original contribution to bring violations to the attention of the Forum Manager (disabilityconnections@infoxchange.net.au).
Rules
1. All contributions to the Forum must include the sender's real name as all or part of the author's signature.
2. Private messages may not be forwarded to the Forum without the permission of the author.
3. No insults, threats, inflamed language or personal arguments are permitted.
4. Contributions of a personal or offensive nature will be removed from the forum.
5. Quotations of previous posts may not exceed 5 lines, or the additional lines will be stripped off automatically.
Please note that the web-based caucus system contains all previous posts, so quoting is unnecessary.
Guidelines
1. Contributions must be within the scope of the Forum's purpose (i.e. disability related issues. There are thousands of other Internet forums that cover other topics). Members should not post excessively on any one day. Excessive postings include more than 75 lines (normal format) or more than 5 posts per day; more than that can strain e-mail subscriber's mailboxes. Please be kind!
2. Because this is an un-moderated forum, the responsibility to understand what is within Disability Connections Forum scope lies with the person posting the message.
4. Complaints about a Forum member's behaviour should be directed to the Forum member or the Disability Connections Administrator: disabilityconnections@infoxchange.net.au
These complaints should not be posted publicly to the Forum.
Removal from the Forum
1. A participant may be removed by the Forum Manager for breaking Forum rules. The Disability Connections Administrator may remove a participant for violating the Forum's guidelines upon consulting the Disability Connections Steering Committee.
2. The Disability Connections Administrator is not responsible for monitoring every post and will only review where a subscriber has broken the rules upon receiving a complaint to: disabilityconnections@infoxchange.net.au
The WWW system contains all the postings and information needed to review whether the rules have been broken.
3. Members who feel that an individual is contributing items that fall outside of the Disability Connections Forum's purpose should send a note directly to the person stating their concerns, not to the Forum.
4. If an individual's contributions fall outside of the Disability Connections Forum purpose on a regular basis, a determination on removal will be taken up upon request to the Disability Connections Steering Committee via the Disability Connections Administrator.
5. The Disability Connections Steering Committee reserves the right to remove any subscriber.
6. Unless special dispensation is granted by the Disability Connections Steering Committee, members removed from the forum may not return for one year. They may read the forum from the WWW system, but not contribute.
7. Technical maintenance may cause an e-mail subscriber to be temporarily removed by the Disability Connections Administrator. In such a case the member may rejoin the forum at any time.
